How many blades is best 3 or 5 (for air flow and silence) ?


Narrow or wide blades (likewise) ?


What determines a quiet fan ?


Plastic or metal blades ?


Optimal angles of blades ?


I want a stand fan for my room. Silence is of extreme importance.Standing fan tips/advice for power and silence?
The more blades and the wider they are, the greater the air flow. The number of blades doesn't affect silence.


Most of the noise in a fan comes from two sources: the motor, and vibrations caused by slight imbalances in the weight from one blade to the next. Normally higher quality (typically more expensive) fans are built with better motors, and more accurately balanced blade assemblies, resulting in quieter operation.


If in doubt, get a fan with multiple speeds, and use the speed that you find to provide the best combination of flow and silence.
