Any tips or advice you can give for first-time job interview?

What should you expect when going in for a first-time job interview? What kinds of questions should you be prepared to ask and answer?

10 points for most helpful answer! Thank you so much in advance.

Any tips or advice you can give for first-time job interview?
There's a wide range of questions that the interviewer may select from. Here are some of the unexpected questions:

You may be asked to provide examples of your integrity:

* ';Tell me of a time you had to act responsibly.';

* ';What goals have you accomplished?';

* ';How do you handle difficult situations? Provide an example.';

I just had my first interview too and I was really nervous about the questions but it's MORE important to show your personality and be likable and clean and nice looking than giving the best answers.

Does anyone have any tips or advice for travelling on a plane with a baby?

She's 3 months and it's a fairly long flight.Does anyone have any tips or advice for travelling on a plane with a baby?
Make sure she has something to suck on when taking off and landing so it will pop her ears... there are plenty of questions like your on yahoo answers.... look them up and I know they will be very helpfulDoes anyone have any tips or advice for travelling on a plane with a baby?
If you know the times that she normally sleeps try to get a flight around that time. If not, take toys and books. Find some flash cards with animals and show them to her and talk about them, what animal it is, what sound it makes, etc. I know she's too young to understand but she'll like the interaction. Also just a tip, have her drink a bottle when you're ascending and descending on the plane to help pop her ears. Even though the plane is pressurized it's still difficult on a baby. Another tip, if you take toys that make noise and they're kinda loud put a piece of blue painting tape or masking tape over the speaker and that will quiet them down alot but she'll still be able to hear them without getting dirty looks from other people,
I took my son from NYC to Hawaii by myself.. it's rough! He was 7 months though. I breastfeed so I nursed take-off and landings to help with the pressure in his ears. If you bottlefeed or use a pacifier that helps too. I thought about the flight like taking off a bandaid. I just have to get through it then everything will be great! It's hard to prepare cause they are so variable. I would have a few little toys if she's playing with them much. Whatever distracts her best try to bring. %26amp; make sure you have a changing pad in your diaper bag. Some planes have the changing tables and some don't. The ones that don't they let you go in the back of the plane on the floor where the staff are... so you will want padding. I found my son slept a lot even though he was a really active guy. I think the motion helps a lot. Check the baby policies before you fly so you know what to expect. I checked my car seat and stroller for free with my luggage. I was flying United. I was supposed to just have one carry-on but no one said anything that I had a carry-on and a diaper bag. Everyone was very helpful.. especially my neighbors! Even when he was fussy they were helping to cheer him up and being kind about it. Remember that most people like babies and don't have to deal with them crying everyday so it doesn't bother them as much! lol.... try to relax and have a good flight. Oh, and I found it easier to use a baby carrier (like a sling or babybjorn type thing) when going around the airport. Having my arms free was helpful!!! Especially traveling alone!
Our baby did surprisingly well at that age. We made sure that she drank a bottle during takeoff and landing to pop her ears. We brought pacifiers (which we didn't use otherwise at that time). Also, we apologized when we first got on the plane to everyone sitting around us and people were SO nice after that. I actually recommend that approach.

I think people are more forgiving if they feel like you understand they are going to be uncomfortable.
My son flies all the time. At 3 months she should be easy to travel with. My son always falls asleep. But I would bring 1 little toy. A paci if she takes one. And a bottle. Maybe a little blanket. Keep it simple. Especially if you are traveling alone with her.

OH! and buy a light weight stroller at like walmart. If you have lay overs its easy to fold and push around quick. You just drop the stroller off at the front of the plane.
take toys and a ear phone set with kid songs. read to her. you could ask her dr for a sedative for the trip. We have done that before.

Tips and advice for a man on shaving down there?

Plan to shave down there for the third or fourth time. Any tips or advice?Tips and advice for a man on shaving down there?
those things that girls use to shave their legs might work the lotion things that you apply to the body and then scrape with a plasstic thing. just go to walgreens and get a LEGS product or something like that. i have seen commercial where women use that to shave their legs, there is a stronger version of it, by that and maybe you wont have itchnessTips and advice for a man on shaving down there?
Get a woman's bikini area trimmer by Remington to trim down the bush. About a 1/2 inch length is good. Use a razer to shave under the shaft and the scrotum and the bikini line. Use Suave Body wash with Coco and Shea butter. I moisturizes the skin and the razer just glides over the skin. Use aloe vera gel moisturizer after your shower to prevent red bumps. I will itch for a few weeks but then go away. Don't shave more than two times a week.
silmply enought, don't shave it all to start off. You'll look 12. But use some type of shaving cream. Probably a girls type for legs, that tends to be better as opposed to shaving cream for men. Thats made for your face. Girls stuff isn't. And not to sound personal or vulgar but don't shave to taint or bum bum.. haha... it will itch like hell and be very uncomfortable. yea, did it once.. trust me.. don't do it... so simply, just trim it up. As long as it's nice and neat girls will like it. they aren't like guys who want it gone forever and to not even to be spoken of that it ever was there.. They are more mature than we are.
I agree with Hearts. My ex used to shave and he always complained it was itchy to him. My husband doesn't shave, and I like it that way. Just trim it a little with some scissors so it isn't wild. If most girls are like me, they like their men manly.
Have a very steady hand, or you may not be a real boy for much longer.
~~My advice is DON'T shave ';down there'; just trim otherwise you'll be miserable for weeks!~~
Use a hair buzzer, no razors.
just go for it

  • I want to pursue photography as a career later in the future. I am 16 now. Any tips/advice for me?

I really love beautiful things and I want to pursue wedding photography. Any tips? advice? on getting started or thinking ahead. Thank-you.I want to pursue photography as a career later in the future. I am 16 now. Any tips/advice for me?
work at a place like Pro-Ex or Ritz Camera. My friend started out there and then became a portrait photographer and now she is working for a local paper as a photographer. good luck!I want to pursue photography as a career later in the future. I am 16 now. Any tips/advice for me?
If I wanted to pursue a job in photography, I would get a fairly good camera and start taking picures of everything. nature, people, weddings, still lifes, anything I could think of, just to get as much experience as I could. I would also talk to a good wedding photographer and get some advice from them.
I'm not sure how long you mean by ';later in life';, but pursue your dreams for the future by acting on them now. I have done photography for several weddings and found that its not my cup of tea, mainly due to the pressure of getting everything just right. But I am working on a nature photography business while doing something else now. When it takes off, I should be financially ready for it.

I got into photography several years ago by attending a class at a local botanical garden. From there I joined a local camera club. This club had monthly meetings with guest speakers giving all sorts of interesting photographic topics. I also found several good books on photography basics. One of the best was titled ';Understanding Exposure'; by Bryan Peterson. Amazon sells it for about $17. It gives an excellent overview of the basics of photography and is an easy read with a lot of relevant examples.

You might also look into short term photographic studies such as those offered with the Rocky Mountain School of Photography (RMSP). You'll find them on line and they offer a variety of classes from a few days long to several months.

Photography, like any creative occupation, is not an easy way to make a living. However, it can be a great hobby or a secondary job, until business gets good. Start drumming up contacts and business saavy now, it will really help you later!
Check into your local community college and see what they offer...my boyfriend goes to our tech school for photography, and he's graduating in May with an associate's degree. Its not expensive, and its a great program. And definitely start practicing now! It takes a lot of talent to do well and make a living in that field.

Is there any tips or advice that can make me dilate faster?

Im pregnant and near the end. Is there any safe ways to make me dilate a little faster? Besides the normal ';mother nature'; answers. Is there any tips or advice that can make me dilate faster?
My doctor told me that getting out and walking or rocking on a pilates ball would cause the baby's head to press down on my cervix which can HELP dilate and efface some... But, I'm not sure how it's working for me just yet. Lol! Good luck with everything!!Is there any tips or advice that can make me dilate faster?
start walking =] go for a stroll around the block or two. walking helps the baby get into the birthing position better and can help get contractions going. it helps even when your not having contractions. do this every day or night. it will help loosen up your muscles too. make sure and stretch before and after. =] congratulations hun!
i drunk raspberry leaf tea. and it worked for me. it apparently makes contractions happen sooner and dialaton quicker. dosen't work for everyone ...good luck

What are good tips or advice on becoming a successful Air Soft Sniper.?

I want to start participating in Air Soft battles, I never did it before. If i play Air Soft I want to become a Sniper. does anyone have good advice on how to become a successful one. What are good tips or advice on becoming a successful Air Soft Sniper.?
First you need to figure out if you really want to be a Sniper, its not all hype as you would think, its not like Call of Duty 4 or anything.

Sniping in Airsoft is very slow, not the fast paced as you would with an AEG. You have to sit in wait, and wait, and wait until the shot. And remember, this isn't a mission, and you don't have 3 days to make one shot. So expect to make many fewer shots and probably less adrenaline. And you have to have some kind of patience

Also, there is no cheap sniper rifle thats going to be as good as you want, you have to expect to spend at least over 200 dollars to get good results.

If you want to have a lot of fun, but at the same time and play the sniper kind of role, take it kind of like Black Hawk Down. Use an M4 that has good accuracy, and attack a scope (and silencer if you want). That way, you can get up and have the fun AEG battles with a lot of action and adrenaline, and also hang back and use it as a sniper (if its a good M4) and go for accuracy. What are good tips or advice on becoming a successful Air Soft Sniper.?
Just to modify what the guy above said:

You can get some decent guns for under $200 without upgrades (BAR-10, some L96 [though I hate them]).

The sniper role is generally used as a scout. You gather information more then anything else, and radio it back to the rest of the team. You'll generally take anywhere from 0-5 shots a game, and as soon as you fire, be prepared to move on.

I don't know why anyone would use an M4 Carbine for a sniper rifle, or even a DMR. It's possible, but the barrel is just too small for the kind of accuracy you would from an M14, which is the classic DMR.

What I would recommend is you get an AEG, build up some skill as a rifleman, then if you feel you can do it, move to a designated marksman or sniper role.

You'll get a lot of help from this:

What are some of your best tips and advice for writing poems?

All answers are apperciated. Thank you.

    Peace and Love,

NatalieWhat are some of your best tips and advice for writing poems?
Poetry is like Making love. It is intimate, beautiful and should only be done in public by people who are very good at it.

That is my first piece of advice. The problem with most poetry is that it is bad. There are only two kinds of people who write poetry, people who can't write a laundry list and people who are so amazing at the task, that they can write poetry. Most poeple use poetry as journaling, to regurgitate all the depressing, vile, maudlin stuff in their lives, but there are a lot of other things to write poetry about. About that perfect feeling you get when you are one with Nature, about the challenges of life, about love and erotisism, about politics, freedom, war, death. It must speak from the heart without being too effete. It can be playful and joyful or deep and moving. For such a restrictive form, it is incredibly flexible. Before you write freeform, you must learn to use meter. This will give you an ear. The best Rockstars had some musical training - many of then went to Julliard. The best poets also study their craft and get good at several forms. There is a cadence that all good poetry has, it all sounjds musical. Allen Ginsberg had a wonderful sence of pacing in his poetry. You should READ poetry, all kinds from Shakespeare to Sylvia Plath, Byron, Keat, Yates, Longfellow, Shelley - all of those people and more. You should find what you want to say, who touches you. I suggest you might like the Rossettis. They are romantic. Also, Browning.

All the while, continue to write and really critique your work, find a good critic- someone who will be honest but not hurtful. The most important part, though is that you must LIVE. You must take risks and get your heart broken and be absolutley in love. You must know hardship and abundance and every other thing life has to offer and youmust love every moment of your life and live in that moment so you can tell other people around you.

Had Sandberg not been in the world that Snowy night, in that single, perfect moment, there would have been no ';For I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep';. You must be this, too, conscious of the world around you, feeling and being in your own life.

I hope this helps. What are some of your best tips and advice for writing poems?
just write what is in your hart find your own still and do i write a lot of poetry
you have to write what is within your soul....................................鈥?that's kinda hogwash. i mean, it does work...sometimes but as an artist i just write what feels good.

writing can be therapy. when you are going through a hard life situation, write about it. when your energies aline everything will flow. it has nothing to do with the soul and everything with are and emotion. the soul is way back in your brain cavity sleeping. the emotions are what's active in your head. use them. listen to them. but also constrain them so they're not random and they render what you need.
Check out a book from the library about writing poetry. Invest in a Rhyming Dictionary, a Thesaurus and study the different forms of poetry. Get a book of poems by

the American poet Robert Frost. His imagery is wonderful. He was awarded the Pulitzer four times and read a poem at President Kennedy's inauguration in 1961. You could learn so much just reading his poetry.
What I do is I write when I have somethings on my mind. i write abut my friends, family, and ME! ive won 1st place in my state on one of my poems. It was about my best friend. luv her. I also won 1st in my city because of my other poem. It was about my grandma. She died the week before. hope I helped!
Well when I try to write a poem I always try to rhyme!
Learn enough about meter to write lines that scan. Use true rhymes, not just words that are close. Practice using alliteration. Practice using assonances (similar vowel sounds for mood.

Once you know the rules, you will know when you should break them, but never do it for convenience, only becaue it is the right thing to do.

    Put your heart in it.

You will write a great deal of very bad verse before you begin to write poetry, but it is worth the effort.

Peace and Love to you, too!

Does anyone have any dairy fitting tips or advice?

This is our 1st year showing dairy calves and would appreciate any advice on fitting them for show. Thanks.Does anyone have any dairy fitting tips or advice?
Always, always keep your eyes on the judge. Belive it or not, some judges for minor shows will pick the student with the better showmanship if he cannot choose which animal is better than the other.

Act like your animal is absolutely 'the best', and try to show it off. Don't be too arrogant though!

Make a 'sandwhich' between you and the judge. Never block your animal. If the judge moves in front of you, don't block your steer's brisket (chest) by standing in front of it! Move off to the side, and alittle away from the animal. If he is looking at the animal's side, don't hide on the other side of the steer! This is when it's ok to move by your animal's head.

Do you have any tips/advice for an incoming college freshman?

like how much partying to do, what clubs to join etc, special ways to get my gpa up, etcDo you have any tips/advice for an incoming college freshman?
Find a list of clubs and join one's that look interesting to you.

For a better GPA, I would suggest going to class! A lot of people don't but it can help to understand the notes. Some teachers also take attendance which could impact your grade. (Mine also gave bonus points for showing up every now and then.)

I can't help you with the partying as I didn't do any but I would suggest partying Friday and/or Saturday night so you can be better by Monday.

Do as much as you can without overstretching yourself and enjoy the year. :)

you have to mix some explosive training in with your distance training to get the turnover. I don't know much about cross country, but for track you want to hit some hill sprints occasionally and jump in some 4s in some allcomers meets. try hitting some hill sprints after your main distance workout once in a while, or even on the track. It will teach your body to run fast while fatigued.Have any tips or advice for a runner?
try doing lunges... we have them in volley ball, they make u faster and stronger...

the first lunge is where you get on one knee and hold it away from the ground by like an inch for a few second... then you do one sideways bend the same knee you just bent and stretch the other one out, the third one is diagonal to you and is basically the same thing as the second one... do these ten times... they hurt but they are like magically effective!
Bring a waterbottle with u and a walkman so u don't get bored

Please provide tips and advice on how to take care of a kitten?

we never had a pet or any pet experience before and i dont want anything happen to the kitten we are about to get

any important tips or things to remember on taking care of a kitten and its food, shelter, anything?? thank u!Please provide tips and advice on how to take care of a kitten?
WELL, when you first bring the kitten into the house, let him explore, and be sure that the litterbox is in sight, or, even put the kitten in the litterbox, place the food and water somewhere near the litterbox, but not within kicking distance. i recommend a yard stick or 2 away. after the cat recognizes where the food water and litterbox is, he may dissappear for a day or 2. he will be frightened of his new sorroundings and may decide to hang out under your daughters bed, just be sure to put some dirty shirts under (ones that smell like the members of your family, not greasy ones) the bed, and let him sleep with that. eventually your kitten will come out of his hiding spot and come see you. NEVER EVER FORCE A KITTEN OUT OF THEIR HIDING PLACE, you may need to let the children know that they shouldnt touch him at all. dont even approach him. he will approach you when the time comes. in the meantime, you may want to teach the members of the family how to do the kitten shuffle. it consists of shuffling your feet across the floor rather than lifting your feet and making strides. kittens tend to dart around, and even the slightest pressure on a kitty can kill him. another tip, if the kitty decides to hang out under the bed DO NOT bring the litter and food in there, otherwise he will get used to it being there and potentially poop and pee there. as well as starve because he cannot find his food or water. Please provide tips and advice on how to take care of a kitten?
Here's a couple of sites that may help:

i recently got a kitten too. when theyre really small, hide any wires to any thing expensive. and in food, dont switch to any other cat food or theyl get sick and gassy. and if its going to be home alone, make sure it has PLENTY of toys to play with if you dont want it getting in your stuff. good luck!
depend on how old and small.

my cat had kittens like 6 weeks ago.

there weaned and we take harde kitten food and moisten it with water and moosh it up and then feed it.

we have a little area for them when we're not around that they cant get out of

you should show it there litter box and put them in it just to show them so they know its there.

and feed it a 2 -3 times a day and give it fresh water.

and make sure you play with it and gice it alot of atention ;)

Tips, advice, how can i become a better programmer?

I spend too much time debugging my programs

I tend to get frustrated quick

How do you Handle a programing project?Tips, advice, how can i become a better programmer?
I'm sorry to have to say this, but,

    plan

    write

    debug

    debug.

    In other words, you're just going to have to be patient. Donald Knuth, who is something of a god of programming, once kept a programming log where he kept track of his mistakes and his fixes. After twenty years a review of his journal convinced him he was still making the same bone-headed mistakes he made as a novice. The only thing that changed was he became better at debugging from all the practice he got. Actually, he made some improvements in the early years by good programming practice -- literate programming, structured programming and above all PREPARATION but he reached a plateau and stayed there as far as errors were concerned. If you want to be a better programmer, plan, practice, and be patient. As they say in English Class, ';Good Writing is Rewriting'; and as they used to say at Brown University when my sister went there four decades ago, ';English Majors make the best Programmers.';

Tips, advice, how can i become a better programmer?
Also, don't just open up an IDE and ';wing it'; when starting a new project. Be sure to have some sort of rough design in your head as to what the source will look like when it's finished. You'll find that programming is a lot easier when you know what you're trying to program first.
Get good coding examples from other people(or their libraries).

Read thru the code and copy what you like to a common library.

Debugging - make note of the kinds of mistakes you make - keep a list for a while - we tend to repeat our mistakes
Practice, practice and more PRACTICE! It helps!

    Peace to you and yours,

go to B%26amp;Q and take exact measurements of your kitchen including a drawing of the position of doors and windows. They will do a computer drawing of what you want and believe me,they will be half the cost of KD or other rip off artists. They also have a fitting service if you are not up to it yourselves.I fitted mine all but the worktop cutting and plumbing in the new sink. With labour for the plumber and cutting I still had change from 拢2500.Lovely kitchen too.
Play one against the other blag them on the prices offered and with this recession they should give in. Dont forget with the bigger companies your paying for all their expensive advertising...
Buy an ex demonstration one if they have any.

    Ask for a cash price.

    Look on Ebay!
    Usual procedure.

    Get a few written quotes that specify the same equipment and quality, then 'phone them all back with the lowest one, which ';you will have to beat that to get the job';

Amazing how the prices come down !
Kitchens Direct have more than a few people moaning about them on the internet.

    try with a friend

ALWAYS (if possible) get a scope weapon and get headshots (saves ammo) save your gernades from big groups of them and try to stick your plasma gernades on the brutes since there pretty hard with they enrage, you prob gonna die alot from enemy snipes but try to rememeber there positions so when your coming into there range you know where they are and can headshot them before they kill youDoes anyone have any helpful tips or advice for how to beat the Halo series on legendary?
play with friends, dont rush, get behind cover at all times possible, you have to be good with sniper assault riffle and battle riffle that will help out a lot
iv done it and so have my friends, its not hard at all lol
Your best bet is to co-op with someone. I'm a girl and if I can do it you can haha:]
I would say play it with a friend, it just seemed easier to me

Can any one provide any tips or advice for song writting when your primary instrument is guitar?

I am bored with using the same keys and have difficulty using scales. I have studied thes things in books but, I am interested in someones personal experienceCan any one provide any tips or advice for song writting when your primary instrument is guitar?
The more you know, the easier the process will go.

By that I mean, you cant expect to write great songs that are completely different from each other all the time, when I was starting out I was like you. Then I took lessons and taught myself a few tricks, practiced and got everything ';under my fingers'; and viola! I was writing a new song every couple of days. Mess around with chords, and practice your scales every day, you'll get it eventually.

  • I just got my first new laptop. Any tips and advice and what programs should I install first?

Hey, guys! I just got the new Asus N20A and I just want to know some things before I ruin it. Can you give any tips and advice? Could you also make a list of programs that I should install?

Last question: How do I know if I can put a SIM card in my laptop for 3G connecting?

Thanks!I just got my first new laptop. Any tips and advice and what programs should I install first?
    Well here are the ones

    1) Drivers required

    2) Anti Virus Software(eg Avast 4.8 professional)

    3) Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120%

    4) Nero 8

    5) Ms Office 2003/2007

    6) Skype

    7) VLC Media Player

    8) K Lite Codec Pack

    9) Mozilla Firefox

    10) WinRAR/Winzip

    11) RealPlayer 11 Gold

    12) Adobe Reader

    13) Adobe Shockwave player

    14) Adobe Flash Player

Etc.I just got my first new laptop. Any tips and advice and what programs should I install first?
To know if your laptop can be accessible for a SIM CARD:

1.First look for a slot in the side or the bottom of the laptop and open it.

2.Key in or put the SIM card properly in the slot.

3.In the screen of your laptop a notification will appear.

4.That notification will tell you everything.

Note:Well, SIM cards slot depends on what laptop you have. Usually it is available only to newly release laptops in certain brands.

What you wanted to have in a brand new laptop is:

1.A reliable Antivirus Software-having a new laptop needs proper care and maintenance, one of that maintenance is having an antivirus so your new laptop wont have any virus, malware or spyware from the start.

    2. Adobe Flash and Adobe Reader- it is for opening important PDF files and for opening flash-related files. It is very important because every files in the net right now is filled with this files.
I don't think that there are any laptops that could have a SIM card inserted. Just read the manuals provided with your laptop but I think you'll need to purchase a PCI card or something equivalent.

The most important programs to install first are anti-virus software, microsoft office or openoffice.org, instant messaging software, updates, and Mozilla Firefox for faster internet connection.

I don't know what you're going to use the laptop for so i can only give you the essentials.
Last first: you can't put a 3G card in a laptop for connecting to a call network. SIM cards are specific to phones.

For software, that depends on what you wish to do. If you need an office suite (word processor, spreadsheet), use Open Office. It's as good as Microsoft Office and it's free.

You'll probably want to install two things from Adobe: Acrobat reader and Flash. Both are free.

And if you're using swodniW, you better make sure you have some kind of security software installed, like AVG and SpyBot. Both are free.
It depends on which things you wanna work weather its for writing or designing. If it is for writing then install Microsoft Office full package and if you wanna do designing task so install Adobe Photoshop, illustrator etc. Sim card are for mobile phones not for laptops.
download a anti-virus program and install it...i use avg ,,,but avast is good also

check you firewall setting..make sure its on...if using a router, usually they have a firewall setting,,,make sure its on...i usually use the router firewall, and disable windows.

not sure about the 3g connecting
    Congratulations for the new laptop.

I guess you should have bought Windows based laptop. Though the Operating system has a in built firewall, try installing a third party firewall and antivirus. Always for best results, use AVG free anti virus edition. Then you should get to go normally without any problem. All the best and happy computing :)
most important things are to install antivirus and antispyware, avast or avg free editions are good, and for spyware, spyware doctor and malwarebytes are very good.

also make sure your windows has the very latest windows security patches
    Antivirus. Maintenance Programs...Defragmenters..etc.

PerfectDisk, TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, Uniblue Registry Booster and SpeedUpMyPc. etc
well i'd say u need all the microsoft things (word, excel..etc.). iTunes, Internet!, a photo editor a note-pad, an emai; thing a web designer and thats it's x

Can anyone give me some advice/tips on forming a teen book club?

I recognise that children especially teenagers are giving up reading on my island. I want them to utilise their library and the thousands of books there. Can anyone give me some advice/tips on forming a teen book club?
If and when you decide to start your own group, your first task is to recruit members. Think about how many people you want to participate. The size will likely be dictated by the place where the group meets. If you plan on hosting meetings in your own living room, for example, you may find it difficult to accommodate more than seven or eight members. On the other hand, if your group is too small, discussion may suffer, especially if you don't have perfect attendance at each meeting. Many book clubs recruit solely from friends or coworkers, but you don't need to stop there. Posting flyers at your local public library is an excellent way to foster diversity in your members and meet new people.

Once you have a solid group of people together, it's time to set some guidelines for your group. It is a good idea to do this at your first meeting. How often will the group meet? Most book clubs typically meet once a month and discuss one book per meeting. Decide on a process for choosing the books you will read. Be sure to set a consistent time and place for meetings, so that you do not have to go through the process of scheduling each meeting. Make it clear to members that they are expected to plan their schedule around your set time, not vice versa. While the living room is the obvious choice for a place to meet, you should also consider such places as a library, restaurant, or community center.

Once you have recruited members and established guidelines for your book club, it is time to focus on the actual discussions. If you are serious about having quality discussion and are willing to invest some money in your book club, you may want to consider hiring a professional leader to moderate meetings. Not only will a leader help insure that a fulfilling, balanced conversation takes place, but he or she will also help your group decide which books to read (or even choose the books for you). A good way to find a discussion group leader would be to contact your local public library or college.

*I'm a teenager and in a book club myself. The club provides a book for us and we get to keep it. Sometimes we have discussions over coffees, drinks, and snacks. It's very relaxed and comfortable. Can anyone give me some advice/tips on forming a teen book club?
Well, everyone else has already given great answers. So, all I will say is:

Make sure that you don't make the book club tacky.

No offence, and I'm sure you wont... but, I am a teen so I can speak for my fellow teens... we totally hate it when people make things really babyish and tacky. We want cool and fun.

So find a way to make it fun and cool.

Good luck! Don't let reading go away! =]
Choose interesting books that will motivate them and make them want to read.

    PS: avoid classics...
Yes, a lot of teens today arent fans of reading

    I'm 11...

    I luv reading

U could ask a couple of kids in the beggining and take a poll.

Wat kind of books do they like?

Do u think others would like it?

Most kids i think don't like it 4 it is somewat related 2 work- school sorta.

Don't make it like 2 academic @ first.

Just choose a couple of fun books- avoiding any classical types of books.

Use fun newberry honors and winners.

There's a reason why they choose new berry's.

Most ppl like realistic fiction...thatll work.

U could get a realistic fiction that came out not 2 long ago- then it's more realistic.

If ppl still hate books, let them take a break and just let them do fun activities- somewat related 2 books.

Let them do some free choices.

They'll get the hang of it.

Any tips or advice on moving in the military?

We are moving from Ft. Gordon, GA to Ft. Drum, NY. We have decided that we are going to let the Army move us instead of a DITY move. We tried a DITY move from Ft Bragg to Ft Gordon and it was nerve wracking with my husband driving. Does anyone have any tips or what to expect? I've heard of weight limits and all but does that also apply when they move us too? Any advice will help. Thanks!Any tips or advice on moving in the military?
we never had any major problems when we moved from Ft. Carson CO to Ft. Leonard Wood MO. we had the Army move our stuff instead too. my husband was a SGT at the time and was allowed upto 9,000 lbs.

just make sure you take pictures of all valuable items and your tv, and your tv's serial number (so they can replace it if something were to happen). before they move you they will send a guy out to estimate how much everything will weigh, and to look at all your items and see what needs to be crated. we have glass top tables and they had to build custom crates to transport them...same with our flat screen.

the people who pack up your stuff for you are not military. if your concerned about certain items being packed a certain way, let them know and monitor them. also ask them to let you see whats in the box before they seal it to make sure its all logged correctly. the only complain i had was they smashed our lampshades. you have upto 70 days to claim any damage to your items though once they arrive.

all in all, i thought the Army did a great job moving our stuff. its so much easier to have them come in and do all the work for you and its soooo much less stressful.

good luck on your move!!Any tips or advice on moving in the military?
Yes there is a weight limit it goes by rank and dependents if I remember right.

Whomever is in the military will go to briefings and get all the info. The transportation office usually has pamphlets you can pick up with all kinds of info.
if you are letting the military move you, trust me on this, log whats in each box. i had the military move me twice. the first time i was missing all sorts of things. the second time i logged what i packed in each box. no problems when i got to my destination. just make sure the movers see you doing that. the military doesn't use the most reputable of people.
Just as you would for a commercial move in civilian life, make sure you catalog...and even photograph all of your possessions prior to the packing and moving. With the advent of digital cameras, it is very easy to do...and an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.
yes there will be a weight allowance based on his paygrade.

and of course, hand carry your valuables and anything you cannot bear to lose or have broken. get secondary renters insurance as well.

and invest in warm clothing. you will need it.
Contact that office and they should let you know any restrictions or suggestions. I think you are doing the right thing. It's also a good time to get rid of stuff you don't use anymore, or that is worn out. That will lighten the load:)
as always document everything. Take pictures of everything in rooms before you move. this will give you proof of the condition of things before you moved.
when they moved me my boxes looked like crap when they got to me. The move was from chicago to california and it took a long time.
Well as far as the packing and unpacking goes

We always just bought a case of beer and had my dads buddies unpack and pack us up. Though they only were allowed to drink AFTER they were done lol
Yes, you have to stay in the weight limits but it's usually more than enough unless you just have a ton of stuff. Have you joined AFCrossroads.com? You don't need to be AF, just in DEERS. You can find a lot of tips and advice there. Plus you can meet people at the new post who can help you once you get there. Tell you the best places to live, work, eat at, shop, etc.

Also, have some help when the movers come so they are all being watched. There are cases of stolen items or things not packed carefully. And make sure the crates are sealed in front of you! If they think you don't know that, they will tell you they seal them later. After they go through your stuff.

Take photos of your things. Make lists of CDs, DVDs, dishes, clothes, etc. It's a lot of work but in case anything goes wrong, you will be so glad you did. Because they will use their own lists and just put ';China'; on the forms. You need proof that this was your wedding china and had 12 place settings. Burn the photos to a CD and carry that with you.

Take all your really valuable items like jewelry or sentimental items with you. Don't let them pack them. And carry all of your important papers with you. Don't pack those either.

Then have as many people there when they bring your goods in to the new place too. Make sure each box is inspected for sealing before they leave. Match what is in the box with your own list and inspect everything for damage. If anything was damaged or came up missing, file a claim as soon as possible.
yea dont do it it fs u up

Need tips and advice on writing a romantic novel?

I have the concept in my head (my current gf). A true love story. Any tips or advice on how to start the story and how would introduce characters? Just doing it for fun and never written a novel in my life. Wrote some essays st school.Need tips and advice on writing a romantic novel?
One of the hardest parts of writing a story is starting it.

If you want some examples first, I recommend reading some romance novels to start with. It will give you a general idea, and maybe it will help your mind kick-start your novel.

One thing is to just remember, every amazing book starts with one sentence. Start with that first sentence. Then, after that sentence, write another one. And then again. Don't worry about word count or anything, just keep writing.

Soon enough, your ideas will start to build on top of another, and you'll have your story. :]

    Good luck!

Anyone have any good tips or advice on fake eyelashes?

For example, are they easy to apply? Do you put mascara on before or after? Do they come off easily? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!Anyone have any good tips or advice on fake eyelashes?
Measure out the false lashes by holding it against your lashline and trim it accordingly. If you want it looking more natural, make it shorter, or longer if you prefer the dramatic look. Use the adhesive that comes with the lashes, and if they don't you can buy some from CVS and Sally's Beauty Store, and apply it on the band at the bottom. Using a tweezer, grip your falsies at the middle and looking down on a flat mirror, apply them on your lashline. You can use the end of a make-up brush to help it stick own, but do this gently. Let the glue dry and re-apply eyeliner, preferably liquid or cream to cover the plastic bits and give it a flawless look. Apply mascara like normal and blend in your own lashes with the falsies. You can apply mascara before or after, it doesn't really make a difference. I like to apply one coat of mascara before putting on my fake lashes because I find it just makes it easier for me, and then re-apply after I glue on the lashes.

The removal is a little tricky at first. Dab some eyelash remover on to a cotton ball and without tugging and pulling to risk damaging your eyelashes, wait for it to loosen the glue. Grip on of the ends of the falsies with your finger or tweezers and gently pull. After you get them off, apply a little more remover just to make sure the glue is all off. You can also use an eye make-up remover to take off any of the eyeliner and mascara. Wash off with cool water and voila! :)

Practice makes perfect. They're really fun and easy to use, once you get the hang of it. :)Anyone have any good tips or advice on fake eyelashes?
    Hi Kat,

Here, I have place some tips about how to put on False Eye Lashes:

    1. You can trim the width and length of your false eye lashes if you wish to. But first, try the original length and see if you prefer it that way before cutting.

    2. Prepare the things that you would need: a good pair of tweezers, some eyelash glue and your lashes, of course. A magnifying mirror will also be useful. If you are putting on individual eyelashes, make sure that the individual sections are ready.

    3. Before actually applying the lashes, line the upper part of your lash line with black or mahogany-collared eyeliner pencil and smudge it a little to create a smoked effect. This would conceal the lash band area.

    4. When ready, start applying the individual eye lahses before the strip ones, as they are more difficult and effort-consuming to apply. You would need strong, steady hands to apply it well.

    5. Pick up the fake eyelahses with a pair of tweezers. You are likely to have more control if you use tweezers than handle it with your fingers.

    6. Apply a tiny amount of eyelash glue by dipping the end of the fake lashes. Wait for about 30 seconds for the glue to become sticky.

    7. Apply the fake eyelahses very slightly above your real eyelashes, and position them as close to your lashline as possible. Gently press the eyelash area until it false lashes are set. If you are using individual lashes, start applying from the outside of your eyes inwards.

    8. When the fake eye lashes are set in place, curl them with a good eyelash curler, together with your natural lashes. Apply some mascara afterwards.

Never try to put them on when you are just 5 minutes away from leaving for a big party.

This below mentioned tips are for how to remove fake eyelashes:

    1. Never remove it by tugging. Chances are, you might pull off some of your real lashes as well, and this can become very tragic! Go gentle on those fake eye lashes and handle them as though they could be real.

    2. Start by dabbing fake eyelash remover on your lash line with a cotton swab. You can gently tap the swab at the base in order to loosen out the eyelash glue. Start applying from the outer edge inwards. You may use some eye makeup remover as an alternative. It would also be good to let it soak for a few seconds in order to soften the adhesive glue. (Do not leave it out too long as it will dry out eventually.)

    3. After making sure that it has fully softened, take one corner of the lash band (for full fake eyelashes) and gently pull off the eye lashes. For individual fake eye lashes, it is best to use a good pair of tweezers for more precision when pulling.

    4. Remove all possible traces of eyelash glue by dabbing some more eyelash remover. Finally, cleanse your eyes and the rest of your makeup with a good make up remover.

    What's more????
I wear them as a part of competitive dancing. The best tips I have found over the years are...

    1. Don't choose false lashes that are too long or thick for your features

    2. Always lay them against your eye (without glue) and cut off the inner end of the lash if it is too wide for your eye.

    3. Put your makeup on first including ONE coat of mascara

    4. Don't use too much glue (you will see it if you do)

    5. Attach the lashes using fingers or tweezers BUT get them as CLOSE as possible to your own lash line otherwise they look wrong and are uncomfortable.

    6. Apply a second coat of mascara to stick your own lashes to the false ones and apply more eyeshadow and/or eyeliner to disguise the glue and the false lash line.

    7. Peel them off slowly when you are finished wearing them (it doesn't hurt) and store them in the container they came in. The can be used again and again if you carefully peel the old glue away.
Ouhhh mann , you wouldn't want to read all that right ?

They're easy to apply , and they do come off easily . Depends on the type of glue you're using .

Anyway , here's a video on how to put fake lashes . :)
mascara is put first, as it is use to adhere the fake eyelashes...

tip: do not use mascara when you already have fake eyelashes..

but, if you insists, then use clear mascara instead
put all your face makeup on

    and your eye shadow

put them on with tweezers, put only a thin line of glue on and make sure there set properly they put liquid eyeliner on to disguise them so they look more natural

then put mascara on the top

don't put any mascara on before hand
link below a video on how to apply falsh lashes. in my experience, Ardell makes the best.
only 1 tip wash your eyelashes every 2 hour .................
If you're a smoker, beware of the cig lighter.

Do you have any tips or advice to offer?

I want to start a homestead when I finish college but I really haven't the faintest idea of what to do. How long would it take and how much would it cost to buy an acre of land along the south shore of Lake Superior and build a 20'x20' log cabin (with loft, outhouse, and shed)? If I started work in early spring and spent all of my spare time on it, would I have enough food canned/dried and wood stacked up for the winter? What would be the most ecologically friendly way to heat my home and have some electricity... like how much would solar panels cost? Would it be wise to have a cellar?

I really do not know much about all of this, but I would like to know if it is something a person just out of university (I'm very good about saving my money and my parents are paying for my tuition) can afford, or if I'd best get an apartment and work on the homestead for a few years before moving in.Do you have any tips or advice to offer?
you can move in right away, but you may want to check into alternative power, F.D.A. loans, raise chickens, grow vegies.

P.S. you need more than 1 acre at least 2.5.Do you have any tips or advice to offer?
A log cabin will be cold in the winter unless it's very well insulated.

Not sure about how much land you'd need for enough home-grown fruit and veggies for winter; but 1 acre sounds a little small for that.

You're talking about stacking wood to burn for heat during the winter, but burning wood is not very ecologically friendly. Wood combustion is very inefficient and produces a lot of pollutants.

Solar panels will probably cost around $10000. My parents have them, and they're only good when the sun is shining. They're very weak when it's overcast. You'd need batteries to store the electricity for evening use.

Basements next to a lake sound like a bad idea. If you reach the water table when you're digging, you'll have a ';well'; instead of a basement. I guess if you're at a high enough elevation, then it would be fine.

I'd advise taking advantage of services such as electrical utilities wherever practical, with your own system only as a backup.

I'd also advise getting a career that pays enough so you can buy groceries at the store rather than having to grow your own. Working with computers is a lot easier than farming.

I like the idea of a lake shore house. Sounds like a cool dream.
Hi, do I ever have a website for you! www.backwoodshome.com, they have a story about Dorothy Ainsworth, a woman that did just that, not on lake Superior though. I know one thing, that type of lifestyle means hardship, probably like you've never known. But its real cool though. Best way for heat is to burn wood, that in itself is quite alot of work. Good luck with that.

  • Anyone have little helpful tips or advice on losing some weight?

I don't have a lot to lose (around 15 or so). I am a fairly healthy person, however I tend to have trouble controlling portions. I eat healthily for the most part - but I consume a lot. Any good tips appreciated! Thanks!Anyone have little helpful tips or advice on losing some weight?
HI! You don't even have to eat less. Just exercise regularly and make better choices! Like veggies and fruits instead of sugary treats. :) GOOD LUCKAnyone have little helpful tips or advice on losing some weight?
Eat more often with small portions.Don't deny yourself anything, if you're hungry, eat but eat with your stomach and not your eyes. Really try to recognize when you're full. Also eat all of the things you love, just in small portions. ( instead of a whole candy bar, eat less than half) Skinny people eat all day long and that's why they are skinny. A little extra activity would help too and stay hydrated. Don't eat anything that says diet or low fat. There's a dirty little secret about that. Hope a few of these tips can help you out. Take care.
I always recommend to my clients that they don't focus on calories or their weight in pounds. Focus on eating healthy foods, foods that are real. Real food doesn't come in a box, can or package.

If you go into a grocery store and shop along the outside aisles you will see meat, fruit, veggies, and dairy products. These are all real food.

I also tell my clients to eat smaller meals more times (5-6) per day. When a body is starved it will store fat. When it believes that times are good (when it's being feed good nutrition often) it will release fat.

    Good luck!
i advise you to drink green tea 1-3 glasses per day

green tea speeds up your metabolism

drink lots and lots of water 8 glasses each day.

    do not snack

do not eat 6 meals a day, try to only eat 3

if you are really hungry and you've had all your daily meals snack on fruits ( oranges, apples, bananas )

exercise more try and run for at least 30 minutes a day

    get more active

    exercise

get more sleep it prepares your body

stretch, yes it works and it doesn't just help you lose weight it helps with you're growing to make you a little taller

count your calories try to stay under the amount of 1300 calories per day

change you're lifestyle it makes a difference

do not eat candy or chips eat more greens or protein bars

avoid fast food and cut out fried food when you cook your meal oven cook your food do not fry it

chew gum because when you chew gum you do not pick at food for example if theres some chips in you're cupboard you go to them a think good damn they look good then you would say no i cant pick at them because i dont wanna throw my gum away

do not eat after 6pm because before 6pm you can burn all you're food off and if you eat after six it will lay on you're stomach as you eat.

do not eat before you go to sleep

drink a glass of water before you go to sleep

drink plain hot kettle water because it speeds up you're metabolism

do not weigh you're self everyday because it torments you, weight you're self once a week ( every Monday )

    good luck!

you can safley lose 2 to 3 lbs. a week

also for abs try, lay on your back, put your hand over your head on the floor you can even hold on to something heavy to keep you down and then lift your legs up and down it burns but it works really good! %26lt;3
Walking twenty minutes a day. Not strolling but setting a good pace. To cold outside try the mall.

Worked for me. Lost 20 lbs and able to lower my blood pressure.
the blog called 'easy diet options' is full of advice and tips for loosing weight, you can find it at http://easydietoptions.wordpress.com good luck :)
The best advice is drink plenty of water with your meals and lots throughout the day. Water helps to eliminate hunger, especially when eating. Eat your meal slowly, and you will find that you consume less. Try to eliminate sugared drinks altogether including juices - they are high in sugar.

I need some editing tips and advice for my novel?

I'm getting ready to start editing my novel. What is the best way to go about this? Any general advice? I've already rewritten it from several drafts. It's a 94,000 word science fiction that I hope to get published so any advice would be extremely helpful.I need some editing tips and advice for my novel?
Proofread it, looking for errors. I've written two novels which I self-published, so I was ultimately entirely responsible for their content. Even after reading them many times, I was never able to discover all the errors, unfortunately. Your goal should be to produce a professional manuscript, one with as few glaring mistakes as possible. If you are successful in selling your story, your publisher will edit it further for you, making suggestions regarding the story-line itself. Thus, you should be predominantly concerned with polishing your manuscript in order to attract a literary agent to represent you, as almost certainly you will require an agent's services, and he/she will be more likely to agree to doing so if your manuscript is well-written and virtually error-free. Good luck with your career!I need some editing tips and advice for my novel?
Thanks for the Best Answer! Your comment is so true -- one reason why I self-published; I am too sensitive to bear adverse criticism and rejection!

DOes anyone have any tips or advice with travelling on a plane to Disneyland with a two year old?

This will be his first BIG trip, he has never been on a plane, and I have never had to pack for a trip like this before. Anyone have any tips for us?DOes anyone have any tips or advice with travelling on a plane to Disneyland with a two year old?
I'm assuming that you are his parent, so you know him best, but if I had to tell you one thing, it would be to not make a big deal out of the plane ride. Some kids can get really scared by the thought of take-off and landing.

Some kids have a problem with their ears popping while on a plane, but not all. Just to be safe bring something for him to suck on. I know that some 2-yr-old's still use a pacifier, but if he doesn't, try a sippy cup that is hard to suck on. This will make it easier for his ears to pop.

As for packing, get him his own back pack that he can wear or pull around the air-port. Fill it with toys that you know he loves to play with, and maybe one or two new ones. If he isn't allowed to use markers regularly, then get some of the Crayola Color Wonder markers, they usually come with a theme book like Cars or Toy Story.

If he likes, and is allowed, to watch movies, consider investing in a portable DVD player if you don't already have one. These really are cool for kids because they can hold them on their laps and get to use cool headphones.

Always remember, kids pick up on your moods, so if you are nervous and worried, he will be too. Try to stay relaxed and clam and most likely the trip will go smoothly.

Good luck!!DOes anyone have any tips or advice with travelling on a plane to Disneyland with a two year old?
Good answer up above but I'd like to add a few things. Do bring Children's Benadryl. If your child's ears become uncomfortable and he becomes irritable, Benadryl will get him to sleep.

    Also, bring lot's of snacks!!

Does anyone have any tips or advice to help ease the pain for teething babies?

I'm a first time mom to twins so I really don't know what else to do aside from what their pediatrician told me.Does anyone have any tips or advice to help ease the pain for teething babies?
There is a product called the Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder, and you can buy it at places like Walmart, Meijer and even Amazon.com. It's a small net that locks shut to keep your baby safe from choking. You can place ice cubes or frozen fruits and veggies in there and let your baby chew away.

My son LOVED frozen berries, bananas and watermelon in that net when he was teething. He would never chew on the rubber teething rings, so we bought him a Munchkin and it was a lifesaver!Does anyone have any tips or advice to help ease the pain for teething babies?
We would put a product called Ambesol on their gums to help ease the pain. I would think that they still make it. Good luck.
try letting them suck on a long piece of cucumber so they cant swallow it or a metal tea spoon because its cold
I bought organic vanila teething bicuts and my son LOVES them! Baby orajel which I am sure they told you. Also a teething toy in the fridge is great!
I used to freeze carrots (large enough that she can't try to swallow them and end up choking) and let her gnaw on them to help cut the teeth.

Popsicles are good, as are hard biscuits and whatnot.

There's topical gels you can get to numb the gums as well.
We are going thru teething too, we tried the pacifer in the freezer, oral jels tylenol, wash cloths and lots of love! Those darn teeth hurt!
I used Tylenol and it seemed to work better than any ';tooth'; aide. I also gave him a frozen wet washcloth to chew on. He loved it.

I have a Nikon D40 and am still learning, but I really want to shoot in manual but not sure what exactly to do...I see other pictures shot in manual and they are so much more crisp and clear than the way I shoot in one of the settings...Thanks.I am needing some tips and advice on shooting in manual?
Take a picture using the auto settings and take note of the settings that the automated system used. Then put the camera on manual setting and go back to those settings that you just remembered. Consider those settings your starting point.

Then you can manipulate the camera to your liking. Change the f-stop by step or two. Take a picture, see what it looks like. Or change the exposure time by a step or two and see what it looks like. It's not as hard as some people make it out to be. Once you start you will never go back.I am needing some tips and advice on shooting in manual?
Crisp and clear are attributes of the lens not whether they were shot in manual or automatic, a correct exposure is a correct exposure whether the camera selected it or you did.

As a first step use Aperture priority mode (Av) this at least allows you to choose the depth of field by altering the aperture.

The only time I use Manual Mode is when I use older prime lenses, just for the superb qualities that many of them have.

Just keep watching the histogram try to get a centered peak without burn out or a peak in the darks, this applies no matter what mode you are in and why Nikon makes it easy to adjust the EV value up or down as required.

    Chris
The crispness is probably due to manual focus and an appropriate f-stop.

You need some instruction on basic photography understanding the way light is used in the photo process. Understand the aparature and the shutter and the difference.

Understand how the amount and speed of light determines the exposure and how focus determines the sharpness or crispness of the image.

Any basic book on photography will help, digital or not.
Read ';Understanding expsoure'; by Bryan Peterson - and in the meantime, pay attention to the shutter speed and aperture settings. Slow shutters speeds (less than 1/200th of a second or '200' on the camera) are an invitation to blurry shots. Photos are sharpest, generally, at f8-f11.
Are you talking about the camera mode M on the D40, or about shooting with Manual focus?

Shooting with camera mode M means you have to make all the decisions about exposure: F-stop and shutter speed. So you need to know why you want each of those where they are. Nikon also has the S for shutter priority mode that lets you play around with the size of the aperture, the F-stop, and not worry about the shutter speed.

It also has the A or Aperture priority mode which allows you to keep the F-stop constant and very the time that the shutter is open.

Basically what using those two settings will do, is help you get a feel for when and why you want to use a particular F-stop or shutter speed. Then, with practice, you can try Manual and set both with knowledge of exactly why you want to use each one. Of course there are many books about this, but the best thing is to do for yourself and see.

Now if you're talking about focusing Manually, this takes practice and familiarity with the camera and the particular lens. Subject matter is important too because some things are very difficult to get precise focus on and it takes trial and error, which is much easier of course on a digital camera because you can have almost instantaneous feedback.

As far as shooting with Manual focus, one thing you have to be careful about with this particular camera is that some older lenses will not give you exposure data using the certain lenses.

This is important, because many of Nikon's Manual focus lenses are known for being very sharp lenses. Not that the kit lens that comes with the D40 isn't good, but there are better, and that may explain part of the reason that photos you've seen with manual focus look crisper. These are mainly Nikon's AI series of lenses: NONE of the AI or AI-s lenses will give exposure data using this camera, only AF-I and AF-G lenses will give that data.

You then have to set your camera or the lens to Manual focus mode.

That said, If its an AF-I or AF-D lens, there should be a little green circular light that comes on on the bottom left of the viewfinder (where it should tell you your metering mode and ISO and the frame numbers) when you're looking through it that tells you that you're in focus. Actually this only works with F-stops wider than 5.6. The viewfinder is small so this is a great help.

At the right distance, any lens can be shot at infinity and you can get sharp results. Thats easy. Very often though we need to get much closer to our subjects. This brings up depth of field then, which is what brings whats in focus or out of focus to the fore.

Shallow depth of field highlights the differences between very exact and crisp focus and simply inaccurate and poor focusing.

You accomplish shallow dof two ways:

Up close photography: where depth of field is narrower is where you have to be really careful with Manual focus or any kind of focus for that matter. Manual focus is great here because it gives you the control to put the very narrow in focus area right where you want it .

Macro work is of course very up close photography and inherently Manual focus is best, even if you have an auto-focus lens, This is because you similarly need to be very selective about where you put the very shallow in focus area--depth of field is so narrow.

Using a wide aperture (e.g. f/2, f/1.4) is the other way to narrow dof and really highlight the utility of Manual focus.

Very narrow dof that you get with for example a really large aperture like an f/1.8 or f/1.4 or being really close to your subject especially with a telephoto, takes very exact focusing and extreme care as to where the focus is; as for example with a portrait, one eye might be in focus and the other not. Your job is to pay attention to which one is. It makes all the difference.

Again, you can learn this from books, but its much better if you do it for yourself.

    I hope this helps!

Tips and advice on how to become pregnant?

First off. I know, have unprotected sex. Im not stupid.

I just would like to know some different tips you may have. Positions, ect. My fiance and i are planning to conceive.Tips and advice on how to become pregnant?
If you haven't concieved after about over 6 months then maybe you should both go to your doctor to get checked out. It is normal for people to take anywhere from 1 to 12 months to conieve, but most of the time it takes around 3-6 months.

How is your diet and lifestyle, many things can contribute to fertility.

    # Make sure your partner doesn't smoke and limits his drinks.

    # Make sure he doesn't wear tight fitting pants or underwear.

    # Make sure he doesn't have long and/ or hot showers.

    # No baths.

    # Make sure he is taking a daily zinc supplement.

    # Make sure he is drinking enough water each day (about 30mL per kilo of body weight is minimum needed)

    # Make sure he isn't under too much stress

    # Getting some regular exercise just simple walking will do everyday or so

    and for you

    # Make sure you aren't stressed too much, this has a big factor for low fertility and miscarriage

    # Drink enough water a day

    # Make sure you aren't low in iron

    # No smoking and limit drinks

    # Exercise

    # Having a good balanced diet full of fibre, fruit and veggies will always help and Limit saturated fats, high salt and sugar foods, foods high in additives

    # ## I HIGHLY reccomend you buy some of this, i think this would benefit you a lot as well as it has been known to help with fertiliy and also regulate periodsTry taking some Maca Root Powder (you can get it in capsule form as well), this has been known to boost fertilityTips and advice on how to become pregnant?
If this is your first month I would say get an ovulation predictor kit and start it a few days after your period. Then when it is positive have sex regularly maybe even multiple times a day for about 4-5 days. If you do not get a positive make sure you have sex at least every other day. After sex try to lay on your back with you legs elevated for about 5 to 10 Min's. If you have been trying to conceive for a while then I would say its time to get a basal body thermometer and chart your temp every morning right as you wake up before you leave bed. There are websites were you can put your temperatures in and it will tell you when you are most fertile. Also watch you cervical mucus when it is wet or strechty and clear is when your most fertile also. But if this is your first few months I would try the ovulation kits first. Also start prenatals so when you are pregnant you already have your body prepared for the baby.
Make sure you eating healthy and exercising, that will help a lot.

Also you might want to start taking some folic acid vitamins that will help get your body ready for a pregnancy.. maybe even some prenatal vitamins.

And after sex, prop your legs up against the wall.. that will help get the sperm to swim faster to your uterus.
Track your Basil Body Temperature and use it to determine your highest fertility days. (3 days before you ovulate and 2 days after) It is a small window, but your chances are much higher to conceive then.

Then follow the advise of Aussi Mommy! She's right on!
google all the tips on ovulation but my best advice would be dont think about it as tryin just stop taking the pill and using doms and just have sex cos ur in love and enjoy having sex together. the stress of trying to concieve in itself can cause u not too.
when you are your fiance are done having sex, then put a pillow underneath your butt (so that your butt is higher than the rest of your body) stay like that for a while maybe 30 min to an hour
take your tempture first thing in the morning before you get up and if you have a low fever then you are ovulating.
track your cycles and find out wen you ovulate

What are some tips and advice for being accepted to Brown?

Hi! im going to be a sophmore and i just wanted to be ahead of the game. An ivy league (preferably Brown or Princeton) is one of my big priorities. Any ideas on how to STAND OUT academically and personally? What are some tips and advice for being accepted to Brown?
Well, academically, you want to have as high of SAT/ ACT scores as possible. You can find out what kind of scores are the norm for accepted freshman in the schools you are looking at (try princetonreview.com), and then create a strategy to help you achieve those scores. Taking both tests sophomore year will let you analyze your weaknesses, and then you can take the tests again after looking at where you need to improve. You usually can't significantly raise your overall performance by just re-taking the test, but if you study and take practice tests, you can do better.

You will also want to have a rigorous high school set of classes, and you may want to look into taking classes at a local college while you are still in high school. Try to maintain a very high GPA in honors, IB, or AP classes. Also, depending on your intended field of study, take classes that make sense. AP studio art classes are good, but an AP calculus class is better if you intend to enter a math-related program rather than an art-related one. What are some tips and advice for being accepted to Brown?
You may also want to consider private tutoring (like Princeton Review class or individual tutor) to help you score as high as possible on the standardized tests.

try doing lunges... we have them in volley ball, they make u faster and stronger...

the first lunge is where you get on one knee and hold it away from the ground by like an inch for a few second... then you do one sideways bend the same knee you just bent and stretch the other one out, the third one is diagonal to you and is basically the same thing as the second one... do these ten times... they hurt but they are like magically effective!

Please provide tips and advice on how to take care of a kitten?

i recently got a kitten too. when theyre really small, hide any wires to any thing expensive. and in food, dont switch to any other cat food or theyl get sick and gassy. and if its going to be home alone, make sure it has PLENTY of toys to play with if you dont want it getting in your stuff. good luck!
depend on how old and small.

my cat had kittens like 6 weeks ago.

there weaned and we take harde kitten food and moisten it with water and moosh it up and then feed it.

we have a little area for them when we're not around that they cant get out of

you should show it there litter box and put them in it just to show them so they know its there.

and feed it a 2 -3 times a day and give it fresh water.

and make sure you play with it and gice it alot of atention ;)
