Any tips or advice on how to aim better?

I've gone to the shooting range just twice shot about 200 rounds out of a Springfield XD-40(using Winchester .40 S%26amp;W FMJ). Pretty much all of my shots are going to the left or down left of the bulls eye. I can't figure out how to correct this error. Any hints tips would be great. Thanks.Any tips or advice on how to aim better?
';Down and Left'; is typical if you pull the trigger with your whole hand. In other words, you are probably squeezing the pistol grip at the same time you squeeze the trigger. This is common with people who anticipate the recoil.

One way to tell if you do, is for someone else to load/unload your pistol without your knowing, and let you shoot while you don't know if it is a dry fire or a live fire. Watch as you pull the trigger if the whole gun 'jerks' against your palm as you anticipate a live round, when the gun dry fires.

To correct this issue, tighten your grip and focus on squeezing with only your trigger finger without anticipating when the gun will fire. Ideally, you apply constant pressure to the trigger without knowing when the weapon will actually fire.Any tips or advice on how to aim better?
For a right-handed shooter, the pulling of the trigger tends to pull the shots down and to the left. This is greatly worsened by a gun which doesn't fit the hand, a narrow sharp trigger, awkward stocks design, and above all, by someone who doesn't know these things are working against him, and therefore doesn't modify his approach to compensate for them. Anybody can do good work with some of the worst equipment, if they make a study of what needs compensating for. It's on the individual shooter to maximize things any way it can be done. Of course you know to squeeze not yank the trigger, while keeping the sights on the target. Regards, Larry.
check your breathing, I tend to shoot better when slowly breathing out and slowly squeezing, another thing is how your shooting, Try using your finger tip, sometimes we use the crease between the tip and middle of the finger and pull the gun in as we squeeze! as the guy above said check for you dominant eye, try shooting with each eye (with the other closed) and see if it changes any.
Try opening both eyes when you shoot if you aren't already. Could be that your dominant eye is opposite of your dominant hand, such as in my case. If you are consistently shooting down and left, it's really as simple as aiming high and right until you get the hang of it.
Techno and larry gave you some good pointers,, you may also try to get on balance, exhale and gently squeeze the trigger until the gun surprises you when it goes off.

Good Luck
Your sights may be out of alignment. Try adjusting the rear sight to the right slightly.
you probly need to zero your scope better, but im not a scope user so i cant tell you how
