Does anyone have any tips or advice for ensuring a smooth house move?

Like, seeing as I'm moving tomorrow, when is the best time to start packing........??Does anyone have any tips or advice for ensuring a smooth house move?
Get someone else to do it for you. I did and my drawers got broken.Does anyone have any tips or advice for ensuring a smooth house move?
Little expert in this, have a tactical plan for moving. Item one

if your using a car always plan to have food and some clothes in the first load.

Two second load, clothes and bed items.

light goods next. if have children tv or other items such as playstations.

Third load.

items that you want to use that night.

so on

final load item that you really need a hand with, in the last move i helped with this was the 50 inch plasma along with other light items to help protect it. also helped as it was dark by the time and less snopping eyes about to see it been brought in.
I'm not the best for advice on this one.

We sold our last house to an American couple and we agreed to be out the house at 2.00pm. They rang our mobile at 2.05 pm to say if we weren't out the house by 2.15pm they would call the police as we were trespassing.

Having been steam cleaning the bog this didn't go down to well....Mr Haz saw red and emptied a bin bag full of rubbish all over the stairs and booted a load of cat litter around the kitchen :-(

We left the house at 2.20pm and with smug expressions.
Get a small book and mark the pages out a - z. Get all your boxes/packing crates around you and number them. If you are putting pans in box number 3 then on page P of the book write Pans - BOX 3. Carry on that way and you will know where everything is when you need it. Then make sure that you have that book safely within your care. It always worked for us because i wouldn't allow anyone to do anything else!
Label boxes and make sure you have a separate one for tea, sugar, coffee, kettle, mugs, spoons and anything you will need to get your hands on so you can eat and have a cuppa then the rest can be done when you want.

Do most tonight apart from the essentials pack them in the morning
Stuff like kettle, pans, cups etc should be packed in a box that's ready as soon as you get there. You don't want to be rummaging around for these things. Pack a bag with some scruffs in too. A change of clothes, toothbrush etc and tea making kit will make moving house a lot easier. Nearly forgot to say, stereo is crucial too!
Pack each area in separate labeled boxes, and more importantly, pack the stuff you use every day it its own box and label well so you can start your unpacking with those boxes. Make sure you wrap all breakables with bubble wrap or newspaper.
Now would be good actually. Label your boxes as well, no hassle if you have little time to ubnpack and your stuff is in lesser danger of getting all mashed up in the van/car whatever else you are using for a move.
Definitely leave everything to the last minute.

Run around like a blue arsed fly at the last minute, that's the way I usually do things...
sunday probably ! lol

best thing is to form a human chain from door to door and just pass everything down the line, done in no time lol x
start packing now and dont forget to label boxes so you know where to look for your kettle and coffee when your unpacking! best of luck
You are asking the impossible. There is bound to be a bit of a panic over something.
Call all your boyfriends with pickup trucks and make them an offer they won't want to refuse.
Yup have a beer and do the packing in the morning!
You want smooth?

Pay someone else to do it.
the morra mornin.just chill tonight :)
