Put in the key words in Yahoo or other various search eninges its should give you sites to visit?
The WW2 initiative was called 'Make Do and Mend' so you need to do a search for this. There has been a book published of the Ministry of Information leaflets about it, which you can buy on Amazon. Other than that, as your first answer says, just look for things like 'darning'.
