I want to try out for cheerleading, tips, advice, suggestions?

I am in 8th grade and I am thinking about trying out for cheerleading next year. I am 5 feet 7and 1/2 inches. I can do a pretty good handstand and a backbend kickover. I can do Cartwheel, roundoff, 1 handed cartwheel, somersaults. I am going to be enrolling in a tumbling class tomorrow(hopefully). I taught myself all of this everything but a backbend by myself. I also have a pretty good toe touch. What should I do to improve, and any other comments you have.

Thankss!I want to try out for cheerleading, tips, advice, suggestions?
You sound like you are well on your way! Also, if it's possible, attend a cheer clinic or camp in your area. Chances are, there will be some people there who will also be at your tryouts.

Good luck! I think your chances are excellent. Do something memorable (but be careful), and you'll get their attention. I still remember the girl who did the double flips into a split at my high school cheer tryouts - and that was in 1989 :o)I want to try out for cheerleading, tips, advice, suggestions?
yea just work on tumbling and your jumps because coaches like when you have tumbling and good jumps..... whatever you do work out before the whole thing will ever happen because you will condition a lot and coaches HATE it when you complain about it.... ummm work on your muscles and abs and umm yea when you do cheers have tight arms don't be all loosey goosey....... hope you make the squad

Practice jumps. Be sure to have a good toe touch, herkie, and left and right hurdlers. Your tumbling seems pretty good, all I can do is a one handed cartwheel, handstand, cartwheel, round-off, and almost a front handspring and a back walkover. Your probably going to be a base, so be sure to get strong. But just because your tall (lucky!) doesn't necessarily mean your going to be a base. If you stay tight, you can be a flyer.

Good luck!
My advice, don't try out. You will regret it.
