Does anyone have any tips or advice for travelling on a plane with a baby?

She's 3 months and it's a fairly long flight.Does anyone have any tips or advice for travelling on a plane with a baby?
Make sure she has something to suck on when taking off and landing so it will pop her ears... there are plenty of questions like your on yahoo answers.... look them up and I know they will be very helpfulDoes anyone have any tips or advice for travelling on a plane with a baby?
If you know the times that she normally sleeps try to get a flight around that time. If not, take toys and books. Find some flash cards with animals and show them to her and talk about them, what animal it is, what sound it makes, etc. I know she's too young to understand but she'll like the interaction. Also just a tip, have her drink a bottle when you're ascending and descending on the plane to help pop her ears. Even though the plane is pressurized it's still difficult on a baby. Another tip, if you take toys that make noise and they're kinda loud put a piece of blue painting tape or masking tape over the speaker and that will quiet them down alot but she'll still be able to hear them without getting dirty looks from other people,
I took my son from NYC to Hawaii by myself.. it's rough! He was 7 months though. I breastfeed so I nursed take-off and landings to help with the pressure in his ears. If you bottlefeed or use a pacifier that helps too. I thought about the flight like taking off a bandaid. I just have to get through it then everything will be great! It's hard to prepare cause they are so variable. I would have a few little toys if she's playing with them much. Whatever distracts her best try to bring. %26amp; make sure you have a changing pad in your diaper bag. Some planes have the changing tables and some don't. The ones that don't they let you go in the back of the plane on the floor where the staff are... so you will want padding. I found my son slept a lot even though he was a really active guy. I think the motion helps a lot. Check the baby policies before you fly so you know what to expect. I checked my car seat and stroller for free with my luggage. I was flying United. I was supposed to just have one carry-on but no one said anything that I had a carry-on and a diaper bag. Everyone was very helpful.. especially my neighbors! Even when he was fussy they were helping to cheer him up and being kind about it. Remember that most people like babies and don't have to deal with them crying everyday so it doesn't bother them as much! lol.... try to relax and have a good flight. Oh, and I found it easier to use a baby carrier (like a sling or babybjorn type thing) when going around the airport. Having my arms free was helpful!!! Especially traveling alone!
Our baby did surprisingly well at that age. We made sure that she drank a bottle during takeoff and landing to pop her ears. We brought pacifiers (which we didn't use otherwise at that time). Also, we apologized when we first got on the plane to everyone sitting around us and people were SO nice after that. I actually recommend that approach.

I think people are more forgiving if they feel like you understand they are going to be uncomfortable.
My son flies all the time. At 3 months she should be easy to travel with. My son always falls asleep. But I would bring 1 little toy. A paci if she takes one. And a bottle. Maybe a little blanket. Keep it simple. Especially if you are traveling alone with her.

OH! and buy a light weight stroller at like walmart. If you have lay overs its easy to fold and push around quick. You just drop the stroller off at the front of the plane.
take toys and a ear phone set with kid songs. read to her. you could ask her dr for a sedative for the trip. We have done that before.
