Please give me tips/advice about my new dog's first night in his new home?

I adopted a 9month old dog and I get him tomorrow evening at 7:30pm. Do you have any advice or tips to help him with his first night in his new home? Thank you! Please give me tips/advice about my new dog's first night in his new home?
im sure the bed will make him feel more comftable.

and dont put him in a crate if he doesnt chew or anything, then he'll think hes always going to have to be in there.

maybe put the bed in your room, that way he can get used to you and feel better about his new home :)

goodluck. Please give me tips/advice about my new dog's first night in his new home?
I would suggest not overwhelming him. Ask the previous owner for a shirt or something that belongs to them with their scent on it. Put it in the bed with the dog, along with a shirt or something of yours soft that has your scent on it. After a few days remove the shirt etc from the previous owner. It is best to keep a new dog confined to one room, preferably the one that you will be in, but a quiet room for the first night. Make sure they know where the food and water bowls are, and immediately after getting the new dog take it to where you are going to want it to go to the bathroom and stay there with it until it goes, then praise it highly. If the dog is used to a crate, continue this practice as it is actually good for the dog it is kind of like a den for them. If not, find out where the dog is used to sleeping and if that is okay with you then allow the dog to do that. I assume that since the dog has a dog bed it is used to sleeping there? I would put the dog bed near your bed so that again it gets used to being with you. Take it easy the first night and let the dog get used to its new surroundings. If you have other pets introduce the new dog to the other pets on neutral ground with both animals firmly under control. You are going to have to be the pack leader and that means you have to remain calm and assertive. Have fun with the new dog and I hope that everything works out well for you.
no do not put him in a crate he would no be comftreble....puppies hate that
Bring him right to the backyard, to do his business, and let him sniff it out a bit. Praise him all along!

Bring him into the house to ';his space'; (wherever his bed, food, toys are), drop some treats on the floor in that space and let him enjoy and get comfortable.

He might be scared and a little timid, so maybe bring his bed into your room for the first couple of nights (NOT on your bed!), so he doesn't think that he's being abandoned or left alone.

Walk him around his new neighbourhood first thing in the morning!

Congratulations on adopting and good luck with your new dog!
try to get him use to the place make him feel like he's at home. give toys to cew on.keep him so busy by the nights over you and the dog would be sleepin on the floor.
let him roam around and smell everything.

he will get used to it.

dont box him up let him do want he wants, just put newspaper EVERYWHERE!!!

i hope i helped
Most dogs have items they treat as their cave. Being that wild dogs generally find a cave-like space to set up home this is usually what is most safe to them.

Ask the owner if their dog ever had a ';cave'; - a place it tries to sleep in at night, a place it runs to when its scared. My dog didn't have a kennel as a puppy (big mistake on my part) and grew very attached to her pet taxi we used in the car. Whenever it would thunderstorm she would run in there or if she has a toy and just wants a place to hang out she sits in her pet taxi. It's her cave, it's small and she has full control of the space and she feels safest there.

Make sure you are trying to keep all his surroundings as ';normal'; as possible. He needs to find comfort in familiarity. Find out what time he eats, where he likes to sleep, how they take him to the restroom, what kind of food he eats, etc. And keep with those norms until the dog is comfortable with you. It's ok to change those things but just do it gradually so the dog can adjust.

Good luck!
Right when you get home, take the dog for a walk until he/she pees and then highly praise the dog.

Then have a specific blanket or dog bed that the dog will always have access to. This will help the dog to acclimate to a new home.

It would also be helpful to get him a fresh collar and if he/she came with a collar, the same can be done with it as the blanket/bed.

A new bowl would be good but the dog could share with another dog.

If you've got the loot, a couple of toys for chewing would be great so if the dog chews, you can tell the dog ';no'; to whatever it was chewing on and give it what it should chew on.

Also, a bag of treats that the dog only gets for doin it's business outside. If the dog starts having accidents, take it out more often-this could even be once an hour.

Good luck!

PS-If he's already housebroken he doesn't need to be crated at night unless you start to have problems with nighttime behaviors.
play with him give him lots of attention
Take him into each room one at a time. Let him sniff aorund and have a good look. Do not over crowd the dog. The bed will relaly help and have some clean water and food (if needed) out where you want him to sleep.
