Any techniques/tips/advice on how to forget someone?

I know, I'll get a lot of answers stating how love is eternal or out of mind's control. And I fear that I agree with that.

But, if you are positive that nothing good will ever come out of loving and/or waiting on someone, but if you don't seem to forget them, despite time and separation, is there anything you can do to speed the whole process up?

What do you think?Any techniques/tips/advice on how to forget someone?
Put a lot of new activities between you and the person you wish to forget. By ';new'; I mean things you've never done before---take a class, walk backward, plant a tree, learn to fly a plane, skydive or waterski, learn ballroom dancing, take a short or long trip to some new place...this puts new brain activity into place that was not shared by this other person and gives you new stepping stones for your own life. Also, get involved in volunteer work in your community so that you put someone else's needs above your own---this helps distance you from the one you wish to outgrow or leave behind. Sometimes people come into our lives as a stepping stone---perfect for a while but then comes a time to move on to the next stepping stone. Trust your instincts is my advice and try not to dwell on the past until you have laid a strong foundation for a future that does not include this person.

Focus on pampering yourself, too---it seems to life one's spirits and resolve.Any techniques/tips/advice on how to forget someone?
i found that a rebound relationship works wonders as all ur time is on them instead of ur ex,obviously ur new partner has to know its only a bit of fun,who knows he might even be the one
cut off all contact and get rid of anything that reminds you of them. with time, you'll forget and won't care
